  2.   This is the pull down menu for SEARCHING the
  3. Argus Restaurant Database.  Searching allows you
  4. to easily scan the Database for restaurants that
  5. meet certain characteristics.
  6.  
  7.   Before you start a search, all restaurants in
  8. the Database are displayed in the one-line list-
  9. ing.  If you decide that you only want restaurants
  10. with certain characteristics to appear in the
  11. listing (e.g. Italian restaurants, restaurants in
  12. Cambridge, restaurants that can accomodate business
  13. meetings, etc.) you just have to plug your choices
  14. into the Database through a search.
  15.  
  16.   The two entries on the search menu show you that 
  17. you can either start or continue a search (by using
  18. Alt-S), or back up one step in your search (using
  19. the Escape key).  Once you are familiar with these
  20. keys, you do not have to pull down the menu to
  21. activate the choices....you can simply type Alt-S
  22. from the one-line listing to begin or continue a
  23. search, or hit Escape to remove a search criterion.

  25.   If you type Alt-S you will bring up a menu of
  26. categories (Cuisine, City, Atmosphere, Price Range,
  27. etc.) from which to choose.  After you choose a
  28. category, you will see a menu of characteristics
  29. within the category (BBQ, Chinese, Italian, etc.)
  30. from which to select.
  31.  
  32.   If you hit the Escape key after you've begun a
  33. search, the last characteristic you added to your
  34. search will be removed.  For example, if you have
  35. already selected two characteristics:  Italian,
  36. and in Cambridge, and have pulled up the restau-
  37. rants that meet those characteristics, hitting the
  38. Escape key will remove your last choice (Cambridge)
  39. and the Database will display simply all of the
  40. Italian restaurants.
